THE PLOT:

Based on Gaston Leroux's novel, the story of an Opera house haunted by a mysterious stranger who is obsesed with a young understudy named Christine. He takes her via secret passage to the world hidden underneath the Opera House and teaches her to sing better, but is he willing to kill to help her and why is he wearing that mask?

THE OPINION:

Allthough like allot of silent movies it's a bid long without vocals. But it is an interesting story and Lon Channey's make up effects is incredible. But the DVD version I bought has goofy music at the wrong time for goofy music. Plus not everyone likes silents.
I GIVE IT (7 STARS)

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ STORY (Gaston Leroux's novel about a scared Phantom is interesting and a true classic)
+ LON CHANNEY SR. (Truly the man of a thousand faces does it again)
+ COLOR (The color scene which was hand painted frame by frame was brillant)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES)

- SLOW (Like allot of silents is gets kind of dull at points)
- DVD MOOD MUSIC (The mood music on some DVD versions do not put you in the right mood)
- NOT FOR EVERYONE (If you don't like silents, then you will not like this movie)
