THE PLOT:

The year is 1994 and an alien craft containing half a million aliens crash land in the desert. A slave race that is now marooned on the Earth. They have adaptated to life on Earth and many have full lives. The area racist call Slagtown is an dark and dingy place. Cop Matt Sykes looses his partner in a Newcomer robbery and begins to hate them for taking his friend away.

Solving the crime isn't going to be easy with his new partner, a Newcoming once called Sam Fransico, now George they find the connection to the murder, an alien narcotic and a crimelord.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

I must admit the whole racist thing again an alien species does get on the annoying side at times, but this is more then a science fiction, it's a rare Sci-Fi buddy picture. A missed match pair who hate each other but find a common ground to fight for. I must admit I didn't recognize Terrence Stamp in this movie, I thought the voice sounded familiar but didn't see it under all that make up. The make up effects were excellent and if that alien ship wasn't real I pat the back of whoever created it. ALIEN NATION is a modern classic and everyone should see it. It's a buried treasure for younger kids and I think they should watch it. I mean teens that were too young in 1988 to watch it. But now are old enough to enough it. That's ALIEN NATION and I'm giving it...9 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree to a point, the whole anti-Newcomer does get old fast and the "Slag" comment is just insulting. But it does get better and I love the series that spins off from this. SO on the whole I give it...8 STARS.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ STORY (A rare Sci-Fi/Buddy picture.)
+ CHARACTERS (For the most part the characters are likable.)
+ NEWCOMERS (I do like the newcomer design.)
+ EFFECTS (The effects are incredble.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- RACISM (The whole anti-Alien American was just wrong.)

...AND FINALLY...

- FAN BASED (If you don't like science fiction buddy movies, this isn't for you.)
